Cardiac Surgery and Heart Regeneration

Cardiac surgery is surgery on the heart or great vessels performed by cardiac surgeons. It is often used to treat complications of ischemic heart condition to correct congenital heart disease; or to treat valvular heart disease from various causes, including endocarditis, rheumatic heart disease, and atherosclerosis. It also includes heart transplantation. Cardiac surgery is the specialty of medicine concerning the surgery of pathologies associated with the heart and thoracic aorta. Heart regeneration may be a broad effort that aims to repair irreversibly damaged heart tissue with cutting-edge science, including stem cell and cell-free therapy. Reparative tools are engineered to restore damaged heart tissue and performance using the body's natural ability to regenerate. Working together, patients and providers are finding regenerative solutions that restore, renew and recycle patients' own reparative capacity.
